The Chloé brand was founded in 1952 by Gaby Aighton, an Egyptian immigrant living in Paris. As of today, haute couture was a big part of fashion in Paris, but Gaby wanted to create something that broke the framework, she was innovative and ahead of her time. Gaby and her partner Jacques Lenoir discovered that the demand was high and therefore they wanted to create something a’la haute couture, but with a better fit and with a simpler expression. Gaby wanted to create something for the fashion-conscious young people in the streets of Paris. The first from Chloé were 6 wool dresses which were sold in the local shops in the town. Subsequently, Chloé's first official collection came in 1956, this took place at Le Café de Flore, which was a well-known meeting place for various artists. The collection was designed by Gaby, and produced by her friend who at the time was the 1st assistant at Lelong. In 1966, Karl Lagerfeld was the chief designer and the brand is recognized and huge in the 70s. In addition to Karl lagerfeld, there has over time been a sea of talented designers at Chloé, including Stella McCartney, Martine Sitbon and Clare Waight Keller who is currently creative director at Givenchy.
Chloe perfume
In 1975, the first perfume, The Eponymous Chloé, is launched in the fashion house. It was a feminine and classic fragrance. In collaboration with Coty, which is a major French perfume manufacturer, many more have been added since then. In 1990 came the perfume, Narcisse, which was a little sweeter and with notes of apricot, pineapple and daffodil.
Over time, Chloé has had different expressions on their perfume flakes, but a recurring one is the slightly newer model with a fabric bow around the neck.
